Hi – my name is Linda Brown. A little more detail would be Linda Darlene Sutton Brown. Have you ever tried to
be friends with someone you didn’t know their name? Yet, that’s exactly what we do with Almighty God. This past March, I began a study on the names of God. I went
online and looked at several sites that focused on God’s names and printed off a list. I then started writing in a daily
journal what a particular name meant to me – or what I gleaned from it. Now I would like to share the first one I studied
– ELOHIM – “God”!ELOHIM – meaning “God”,
a reference to God’s power and might. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God . . .”ELOHIM is “my” beginning. I almost wrote “our” beginning
but, I am not as responsible for “our” as I am for “my”. Without ELOHIM in the beginning I have no
present, future or purpose. Another thing about beginnings – they are new, fresh, untainted. There is no history at
the beginning. Even though God has always been – the earth and creation had a beginning, a start time . . . we also
have an end time. The clock is ticking . . .Psalm
19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament showeth His handiwork.”Those who want to see God’s fingerprint look up to the heavens. Each star
has a name – a name that God gave them. Some day He will tell us their names and introduce us properly. Man thinks they
are so smart as they gaze at the stars through their telescopes and give names to the stars and planets. I wonder what the
real names of Saturn and Mars are? The only one we know to be accurate is “earth” because the Word of God calls
it that. It’s funny – those who do not believe in creation acknowledge earth by the name the God they don’t
believe in, named it.The power and mighty of
ELOHIM is all around me. Under my feet: as I stand on the earth He created. Around me: as I breathe the air and see His creations.
Above me: as I gaze at the sun, moon and stars. On
March 19, 2011, the moon was closer to the earth than it’s been in 18 years. I stood on the patio and watched this beautiful,
large moon come up over the eastern horizon. It was magnificent beyond words. But then – that’s God’s
creation. ELOHIM made that beauty for His creations to enjoy. He truly is powerful and mighty – He is ELOHIM.
